WAJ: Could you please send a message to Taekwondo athletes, coaches, referees, police, and civilians in Asia and around the world in honor of Vietnam hosting the "2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships"?
Minister Luong Tam Quang: The 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships is a significant event hosted by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, the People's Police Sports Association, and the World Police Taekwondo Federation for the first time in Vietnam. We hope that the tournament will transmit the following message to referees, coaches, athletes, and worldwide friends: "Solidarity - Nobility - Humanity - Together to protect a peaceful life, for peace for all mankind". We firmly believe that a successful tournament with a noble sportsmanship spirit will deeply demonstrate the solidarity, close and effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies of countries to protect a peaceful life, for peace for all mankind; continue to affirm that Vietnam is always ready to be a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community, always striving to increase its contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the region and the world.
WAJ: What do you think about Taekwondo?
Minister Luong Tam Quang: Taekwondo is a martial art that trains and demonstrates strength, confidence, self-respect, creates positive energy, discipline, and concentration for practitioners; has been widely developed around the world, and has been officially included in major international sports competitions such as the Olympic Games, Asian Games, Southeast Asian Games, and many world, continental, and regional championships. This is also one of the strengths of Vietnamese sports and the sports of the Vietnam People's Public Security.

WAJ: Korea has positioned its national brand through Taekwondo, and currently more than 200 countries and territories around the world are practicing this martial art. Thus, in your opinion, what can Vietnam's traditional martial art learn from the experience of Korea's Taekwondo?
Minister Luong Tam Quang: Vietnamese traditional martial arts are the crystallization of the martial spirit and strength of the Vietnamese people, having undergone thousands of years of development associated with the history of the country; constantly being created, cultivated and passed down, creating a treasure imbued with the unique cultural features, martial spirit, bravery and indomitability of the Vietnamese people. Currently, Vietnamese traditional martial arts have developed in more than 50 countries around the world and are continuing to spread, becoming the pride of the Vietnamese people. Through international cooperation activities, programs, tournaments and sports congresses, typically the 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships, we believe that countries and police forces of various countries will have many opportunities to learn, practice tactics and techniques, exchange experiences as well as policies to develop useful sports, together contributing to developing a safe, healthy and sustainably developed world community./.
