An exchange between Nguyen Ai Quoc, Phan Van Truong, a North Korean delegate, Kim Tchong Wen, and an American reporter at the reporter's house:
Reporter: What purpose did you come to France for?
A: To claim the liberties we must enjoy.
Reporter: What is your program?
A: Always moving forward, according to our strength.
Asked about the party's work in Indochina and the uprisings that broke out at the beginning of the war, Nguyen Ai Quoc replied:
“The purpose of the French government is completely different from that of the Japanese in Korea. The Japanese wanted to fully Japaneseize the Koreans. France, on the other hand, wants to perpetuate the inequality between the Annamites and the French, it wants, by taking advantage of the Annamites' labor, to endlessly extract all kinds of products that East Duong was very willing and tried not to allow the Annamites to create an independent economic position for themselves. Taxes of all kinds, as well as restrictive measures and public education, all stemmed from these calculations. By hindering the civilization and progress of the Annamite people, the French permanently marginalized this people of world civilization and forced them to endlessly respond to their ever-changing demands. . In recent years, living conditions in Indochina have become unprecedentedly pathetic.”
Asked about activities since coming to France, Nguyen Ai Quoc replied:
“Apart from lobbying the members of parliament, I have sought to rekindle some sympathy everywhere, in which the Socialist Party has shown little satisfaction with the Government's measures and has been willing to support us. . In France, that is our only hope. Regarding our activities in other countries, it is in your country (USA) that we have more success. Elsewhere, wherever we are, we only encounter difficulties.”
Nguyen Ai Quoc continued to give a moving presentation about the economic situation, educational situation, and the miserable life of the Annamites in Indochina, and Mr. Phan also told in detail about his difficult life in front of Kim. Tchong Wen and everyone in his news agency.
