"Initially, we wish to express our cordial greetings and sincere appreciation to the esteemed press agencies, media organizations, compatriots, diaspora, and international friends who have been steadfast in their efforts to safeguard the cultural heritage of mankind, particularly the intangible cultural heritage of the Hung Vuong ancestral worship."
Over the course of eight years, the Vietnam Ancestral Global Day, also known as the strategy of combining the Hung King's Ancestral Anniversary and Vietnam Day worldwide (VAG) has collaborated with various associations, communities, government agencies of Vietnam, local authorities of other countries, and international friends to propagate the Hung King ancestral worship. The project has achieved this goal by placing statues of the Hung Kings in ten countries and territories worldwide and organizing a global virtual celebration of the Hung King Global Death Anniversary, connecting representatives of overseas Vietnamese and international friends from almost 50 countries across all five continents every year. These efforts aim to fulfill the mission of disseminating the Hung Kings ancestral worship overseas to perpetuate the gratitude toward the ancestors who are the root of the younger Vietnamese generation, to enhance the power of national unity and international friendship, to connect Vietnamese culture with other cultures around the world, to position the values of Vietnamese culture and ethics in the respect and honor of the values of cultures and ethics of other nations and communities worldwide. Particularly, since 2019, the VAG has been supported by ICI International (a non-profit organization that operates in intercultural and scientific research based in Austria) as an international legal entity to propagate the Hung King ancestral worship in countries with a large community of Vietnamese people.
In 2023, building on the successes of previous years, the VAG will continue to collaborate with associations, overseas Vietnamese communities, international scientists, the Vinh Phu Association in Germany, the Vietnamese Association in Laos, the Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association, the Vietnamese community in Saint Petersburg, Russia, as well as various agencies and departments of Vietnam and other countries, to organize the Vietnam Ancestral Global Day - Hung King Global Death Anniversary 2023. The ceremony will take place in-person in Germany (the focal point of Europe, on April 23) and Laos (the focal point of Asia, on the main day of the festival - April 29, with representatives from nearly 20 countries attending). Additionally, the ceremony will be connected online to dozens of locations around the world at 1pm Vietnam time on April 29 (or March 10, 2023 in the lunar calendar).
This is a culturally significant event not only for the Vietnamese community living, studying, researching, and working abroad but also for international friends who love Vietnam. VAG has maintained this annual event with a common scenario (since 2015) to create a common cultural day - connecting Vietnamese people globally and international friends, aiming to build a strong cultural bridge of friendship, and cultivate genuine friendship between Vietnam and international friends.
