Belgian Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche was received with full honours at the Presidential Palace in the morning of August 5th, to present his credentials to the President of Vietnam, HE Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The President congratulated Ambassador Van den Bossche on his new assignment and welcomed him in Vietnam. He looked already forward to the celebration of 50 years of bilateral relations in 2023. He also identified 5 pillars of cooperation between Belgium and Vietnam to further enhance their warm relations, notably: trade through EVFTA (ratification of IVPA is requested/yellow card removed asap); academic cooperation; agriculture (cereals, fishing, aquaculture & sylviculture); cool chain & International maritime network developed; fight against climate change/green energy; improvement of multilateralism and respect of rule of law.

Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche highly appreciated the warm welcome and underlined the strong existing relationship between Belgium and Vietnam. He echoed the fields of cooperation since Belgium and Vietnam have shared interests at the bilateral and multilateral level. The coming years present great opportunities, and he is willing and ready to make the most of it in the interest of both the people of Vietnam and Belgium.
