We bring the so called „small people“ to the stage: the great writer Ada Christen who was based in Favoriten is portrayed by Rita Luksch, while exquisite soundscapes by Grammy Award-winning composer and musician Georg O. Luksch and the emotional visuals by Erich Heyduck make the play an immersive experience.

For the 150th anniversary of the 10th district of Vienna, we wonder what the lives of people in the 19th century were really like. Those who didn’t have it easy: the children of the poor workers, single parents, widows. Ada Christens poems were instantly a big success, but today there is only the street named Ada-Christen-Gasse in Vienna left to remember her.

When Ada Christen wrote her texts in the second half of the 19th century, many people didn’t have access to education. The children of the lower classes had to earn money for their family from early on. They had to fight for burning material in the winter and had to ration their bread carefully. Historic documents show that the „good old days“ were not good for everyone. But people still didn’t give up hope for a better world or loose their joy at the small things in daily life.

The two Kings Philippe and Van der Bellen havedifferent backgrounds, one is of royal origin, and the other is a child of a refugee family (once of noble origin) but now, in the eyes of the European public, both of them are giving off a sense of courtesy, virtue and erudition.
