The Vietnam Kovalevskaia Award Committee has just announced the results of the 2021 Kovalevskaia Prize consideration for two female scientists working at the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) and Can Tho University.

Accordingly, after studying the nominations for the 2021 Kovalevskaia Prize, the Vietnam Kovalevskaia Prize Committee held a meeting to select the Kovalevskaia Prize in 2021.

The results of the consideration and awarding of the Kovalevskaia Prize in 2021 for two female scientists, including: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai - Vice Rector of the University of Natural Sciences (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuy - Lecturer in Food Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Can Tho University.

The Kovalevskaia Prize Award Ceremony 2021 is scheduled to be held on the occasion of the Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 2022) in Hanoi.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai (50 years old, native of Quang Ngai), graduated in chemistry from the University of Ho Chi Minh City (now the University of Natural Sciences).

After that, she obtained a Doctorate in pharmaceutical chemistry from Toyama University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Japan). She was recognized as an Associate Professor in 2014 and then a professor in 2020.

Currently, Professor Thanh Mai continues a number of applied studies, completing two products to support gastrointestinal cancer and arthritis from domestic herbs. With these studies, Professor Thanh Mai has more than 60 articles published in international scientific journals.

With the research on products from bee species raised in Vietnam, the research team of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai has won the Golden Globe Award in 2017 and the HCMC Innovation Award in 2019.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Thuy was born in 1961, from Long Dien commune, Cho Moi District, An Giang Province. At the age of 31, she obtained a Master's degree in post-harvest technology from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.

She then became a doctoral student in bioscience engineering at KU Leuven School (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Belgium, and was awarded a doctorate in 2007.

Ms. Nguyen Minh Thuy was recognized as an Associate Professor of food technology in 2010 and is one of the three female interdisciplinary professors of chemistry and food technology in 2020.

Over the past time, Professor Minh Thuy's research has focused on solutions and strategies to solve the problem of agricultural product consumption in the long term, and to support farmers and the agricultural sector when facing difficulties caused by natural disasters, fires. fire, disease.

Professor Nguyen Minh Thuy has more than 150 articles (Vietnamese and English) published in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the country (with ISSN index) and prestigious international journals (SCOPUS, Indexed). ISI).

She has 28 scientific works published in domestic and international yearbooks (some journals after 2012 have ISBN indexes); has reported 48 works/research results at specialized scientific conferences in the country (16 works) and internationally (32 works).
